I believe this with every fiber of my being.

I'm Bailey, a small girl from a small town. I lived a year in Kyoto and I graduated from college in Chicago in June 2010. I lived in Boston for two years but it was a wash. I'm rebuilding from the ground up. I am intent on adventures. I like beautiful things, funny things, photography, Japan, and emoticaps. (I am a vegan in progress and sometimes it happens in public. I yell most frequently about religion, racism, "women's issues," feelings, and dresses.) My friends call me Etsuko. You write it like 悦子 and it is a very good name.

TODAY I HAD AN INTERVIEW AND I WON’T BE CALLED BACK BECAUSE BEST-CASE SCENARIO IS BEING PUT INTO A ‘POOL’ FROM WHICH THEY PULL YOU WHEN A POSITION OPENS UP BUT I THINK I DID WELL IN THE INTERVIEW ITSELF AND THEN I ORDERED FORTY DOLLARS’ WORTH OF VEGAN PIZZA BECAUSE THEY DELIVER NOW AND I AM GOING TO EAT IT WHILE TRANSLATING WHEN IT GETS HERE BUT FIRST I AM GOING TO BUY FOOD FOR MY DOG WHOM I LOVE
AND THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I WANT ON MY DASH RIGHT NOW

FOR ME
I read an essay last week (「貸しふんどしの話」) which claims that rental underwear was a major industry during the Edo period; that when the underwear was worn out it was washed, dyed indigo blue, and used as farm clothing; that when that was worn out, the indigo cloth was pounded and left to soak and ferment and release granules of blue color; and that those granules, gathered and hardened into sticks like ink, were the only blue pigment available before artificial colors made their way into the country. So. Keep that in mind.
